Helios Insurance Group Hires Belinda Ervin as Chief Underwriting Officer

Helios Insurance Group, LLC (HIG) announced the appointment of Belinda Ervin to the newly created position of Chief Underwriting Officer. A 26-year industry veteran, Ms. Ervin joins the firm from RLI Corporation, where she most recently served as Director of Underwriting Specialty Programs.

In her new role, Ms. Ervin will be a member of the Helios Insurance Group executive leadership team and the primary person responsible for the underwriting profitability of the HIG Program and Captive business. She will manage and mentor all future underwriters and will work closely with the CEO to pro-actively identify emerging industry trends and collaborate with the executive team to develop market-leading solutions.    

Ms. Ervin will also provide HIG with mastery in the underwriting of complex structures and products. She will be the lead expert and resource for underwriting practices and guidelines for HIG's internal and external stakeholders.

Beginning in 1985, Ms. Ervin has served in a variety of roles within the insurance industry. In her most recent position, she was the Director of a $25M portfolio and her responsibilities included evaluating the feasibility of acting as the issuing carrier for new program opportunities ranging from leisure sports, hospitality and entertainment programs, convenience stores, family entertainment, contractors, products liability and petroleum jobs. Ms. Ervin has achieved the designations of CPCU, CIC, ARM, ARe, and INS and currently is the CPCU President-Elect of the Dallas Chapter.
