Parent, who goes by Ned, is an experienced litigator who concentrates his practice in the areas of complex civil litigation, business litigation and insurance law. Mr. Parent is a versatile commercial litigator, focusing his practice on complex civil litigation, with a focus on insurance coverage litigation, utilizing his unique analytical skillset to offer his clients efficient and effective representation.

Prior to joining Silverman Thompson Slutkin & White, Mr. Parent worked for more than four years as an associate at Venable LLP, where he represented corporations, individuals, and local municipalities and organizations in various litigation matters, including insurance coverage, corporate and securities litigation, public pension litigation, toxic torts, professional liability, and complex commercial and contract matters.

Mr. Parent graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in 2000, J.D., magna cum laude, University of Maryland School of Law, 2006, receiving both the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Barristers.

He has successfully litigated cases, including:

Representing owners of a complex of retirement homes in obtaining liability insurance coverage from various insurance carriers arising from an outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease. Mr. Parent’s representation ensured that these insurance carriers fulfilled their defense and coverage obligations to his client throughout the duration of two lawsuits filed as a result of this outbreak;

Assisting in the representation of an international insurance syndicate in the defense of myriad multi-million dollar insurance claims made by a global financial institution;
Helping secure the voluntary dismissal of a SLAPP (strategic lawsuit against public participation) suit brought against a Baltimore City political blogger.

Participating in the defense, through trial, of property-based claims brought by a consolidated group of hundreds of plaintiffs.
