EK Health Expands Leadership to Advance National Footprint in Workers’ Comp Managed Care

SAN JOSE, Calif. & TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In a strategic move to advance its national footprint in workers’ compensation managed care, EK Health Services, Inc. has expanded its leadership.

Jeff S. Jahnke was hired as Executive Director of Medical Bill Management. Todd Brown, previously EK Health’s Director of Bill Review, has assumed a broader role as Director of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, effective June 18.

EK Health, a national leader in medical and disability management services, has traditionally focused its national compliance efforts on bill review, a service it provides across multiple jurisdictions.

Brown will focus on expanding EK Health’s scope of regulatory compliance services in multiple jurisdictions to all its service areas, including case management, utilization review and medical network management.

Jahnke will oversee the national expansion of EK Health’s Medical Bill Review Services and capabilities with responsibility over the global bill review operation, bill review negotiations unit, network management arrangement, e-billing systems and the technical implementation of all bill review services for clients.

Proficiency in compliance and regulatory affairs has always been an integral part of EK Health’s business model, working hand in hand with medical bill management, utilization management and other EK Health services to provide substantial cost savings to payers.

An EK Health leader for over three years, Brown, who resides in Jacksonville, Texas, has a history of bringing cost efficiencies to the industry. Brown is known for creating innovations and reporting efficiencies at the Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission (TWCC), where, as past executive director, he managed a $45.5 million budget and established the agency’s automation system.

Brown has served as past president of the International Workers’ Compensation Foundation and chair of the EDI Steering Committee of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards (IAIABC).

Besides building a solid foundation for compliance in EK Health’s range of services, Brown will be the liaison with all regulatory agencies and business partners for compliance-related matters.

Jahnke, a former a bill review operations executive with a Florida-based medical case management and bill review company, has over 17 years’ experience in workers’ compensation, disability management and group health. In Jahnke’s esteemed work history he is known for partnering process and systems efficiencies and for building cost containment measures. He brings strong leadership, management, and strategic business skills to EK Health.

Jahnke, who resides in Tampa, Florida, will work from EK Health’s Southeast region. He has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas.
