Targeted News Service

EDMOND, Okla., Nov. 25 -- The University of Central Oklahoma issued the following news release:

University of Central Oklahoma President Don Betz, Ph.D., has announced that Donald Chrusciel, Ph.D., will join the university as Vice President of Administration.

Chrusciel comes to Central from Iowa State University where he currently serves as Business Services Director of Facilities Planning and Management, a position he held since 1999.

Betz cited Chrusciel's demonstrated business savvy in higher education, collaborative nature and fresh perspective as being key factors in his selection.

"As UCO moves forward in serving the Oklahoma City area as its metropolitan university, and in these challenging times of fiscal constraints and increased accountability, he will be a significant contributor to our executive decisions.

His wealth of experience, as well as his regionally and nationally recognized expertise in campus administration, financial planning, budget management, and information technology, will provide us with the solid fiscal leadership as we implement our strategic plan, Vision 2020," Betz said.

Chrusciel is excited to join the Central community in realizing its strategic goals.

"I would like to thank President Betz and the search committee for the opportunity to join this dynamic team. Central is a great, welcoming community and I am pleased to become a part of it," Chrusciel said.

Chrusciel's past experience includes serving as General Service Director and Associate Director of Facilities Planning and Management (1995-99) and General Services Director (1989-95) at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Manager of College Business Services (1988-89) and Materials Administrator (1983-87) at the University of California - Berkeley.

He held leadership positions in strategic planning at both Iowa State and UW-Whitewater, is a member of the Iowa Lean Consortium and the Central Association of College and University Business Officers, and served as an examiner for the Baldridge National Quality Program.

Chrusciel has published numerous articles in the areas of strategic direction, environmental scans and planning/dealing with significant change within an organization, among others.

He is a Certified Senior Technology Manager, Certified Purchasing Manager and Certified Netware Administrator.

Chrusciel holds a doctorate in Industrial Education and Technology from Iowa State, a Master of Science in Information Systems and Operations Management from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, a Master of Business Administration from California State University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Michigan State University.

Ideally located just north of Oklahoma City in Edmond, Okla., the University of Central Oklahoma is the state's largest metropolitan university, serving more than 17,000 students pursuing degrees in 114 undergraduate and 61 graduate major areas of study and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Founded as a teachers' college in 1890, Central considers itself an institution where teaching comes first, and, with a 19:1 student/faculty ratio, students can enjoy personal relationships with faculty and staff who are committed to transforming lives.
