Coverys Appoints Chief Underwriting Officer and Announces Organizational Changes

Coverys, a leading provider of medical professional liability insurance, is pleased to announce the following promotions in response to the company's growth and enhanced service offering. Joe Zorola has been named as the new chief underwriting officer. Additionally, Mary Ursul has been promoted to executive vice president; Brad Lonsberry has been appointed to the newly created role of senior vice president of custom accounts; Michael Miller is now the vice president of underwriting for the East region; Kipp Carpenter has been named vice president of underwriting for the Midwest region; and Robert Hanscom has been promoted to vice president of business intelligence.

Joe Zorola, former vice president of underwriting in the Coverys East region, will now oversee the underwriting function across the Coverys enterprise as the chief underwriting officer, leading underwriting strategy and execution. Zorola joined the organization in 1986 and has held various roles in underwriting during his tenure. Zorola is a graduate of Brown University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in mathematics. He is also a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and is a licensed Massachusetts Property and Casualty producer.

Mary Ursul is now executive vice president and will lead the corporate communications department as well as oversee the Midwest office operations and continue to oversee the workers' compensation division. Ursul joined Coverys in 2006, previously serving as the senior vice president of business development. Ursul brings a vast array of industry experience, previously serving as a board member of Professionals Direct Insurance Company and vice president of insurance operations for Professionals Direct Insurance Services. In addition, Ursul served as general counsel/vice president administrative services for Spectrum Health, while also holding the position of corporate compliance officer. Ursul obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from New York University and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Detroit, School of Law.

<p>Brad Lonsberry has been named senior vice president of custom accounts. In this newly created role, Lonsberry will manage alternative risk underwriting services for Coverys and be responsible for its captive insurance companies, ProMutual Solutions and Capital Risk Solutions, SPC. Lonsberry brings over 35 years of industry experience and has been part of the Coverys team since 2000 serving the underwriting and marketing departments. Most recently, Lonsberry served in underwriting as vice president in the Midwest region. Lonsberry holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and an associate degree in insurance from Ferris State University. He belongs to the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors and is licensed as a property and casualty agent and Licensed Insurance Counselor.

Michael Miller has been appointed the vice president of underwriting. His new role will oversee the underwriting department in the East region. Miller has been with Coverys for 16 years, previously serving as director of underwriting. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, with a concentration in accounting and economics. Miller is a registered professional liability underwriter, chartered property casualty underwriter, a licensed property and casualty producer and is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and the CPCU Society.

Kipp Carpenter has been named the vice president of underwriting and will oversee the department in the Midwest region. Carpenter has held various roles since joining the organization in 2003, most recently serving as director for underwriting. He obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in business administration and accounting from California State University San Marcos. Carpenter is a registered professional liability underwriter.

Robert Hanscom has been promoted to vice president of business intelligence. Hanscom joined Coverys in August 2013 and has been instrumental in leading the corporate program for data management and analytics. Hanscom brings over 14 years of industry experience previously serving as a senior vice president with CRICO Strategies and as the former senior vice president of Loss Prevention and Patient Safety with the CRICO Risk Management Foundation. Hanscom also served as vice president of clinical services and director of hospital operations at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. He was employed by Massachusetts General Hospital as an administrative project manager following several years of practicing law in the state of Maine. Hanscom earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Pacific Union College and obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law.
