The Turkey Hill Minit Markets store at 1199 Prospect Road, Columbia, has re-opened after a renovation and expansion.

The store, which closed temporarily Dec. 1, has been enlarged from 3,000 square feet to 4,650 square feet.

With the extra space comes an updated decor, wider aisles and a broader selection of products. Outside, there's an extra fueling island.

Operating 24 hours a day, the 20-year-old Prospect Road store employs 25 people. Turkey Hill declined to disclose the cost of the project.

Lancaster-based Turkey Hill has 61 convenience stores in Lancaster County. The first opened in 1967.

Starbucks is set to open Friday in Ephrata at 840 E. Main St.

The 1,790-square-foot coffee shop in the Ephrata Marketplace will be in a line of stores along Route 322 with a Five Guys and a Verizon wireless store.

The company-operated Starbucks will have seating for 22 in the cafe in addition to a drive-through. It will feature a Clover brewing station, which makes coffee fresh by the cup.

This will be the eighth Starbucks in Lancaster County.

Hours: 5 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday to Friday, 5 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday. Phone: 721-9911. starbucks.com.

Upohar, a Lancaster catering company that features a variety of international vegetarian dishes, plans to open a restaurant April 1 outside Lancaster at 241 Roseville Road.

The 30-seat restaurant next to SaveMart initially will offer a lunch buffet Monday through Friday. Owner Srirupa Dasgupta says the hours eventually may expand.

Dasgupta now has four employees and probably will add another person once the restaurant opens. Dasgupta says Upohar seeks to create jobs for resettled refugees.

Upohar now does its cooking from a shared Lancaster kitchen at 347 N. Plum St. Upohar will continue to offer catering from the new location. upoharethniccuisines.com.

Kitchen Collection, which sells kitchen gadgets and supplies, has moved to a larger space within Tanger Outlets. Kitchen Collection is now in a 4,000-square-foot space next to Coach. Its old space was 2,800 square feet.

Also, Aerosoles, which sells shoes, is opening a 2,872-square- foot store in the next week or two above Calvin Klein.

And Brooks Brothers marked the reopening of their store Saturday after a renovation that closed their 5,000 square-foot store since Feb. 3.

Gracie's on West Main recently added to its dining room and extended its hours.

By knocking down a wall, the cafe at 264 W. Main St., Leola, added seating capacity for 28, giving it space for 50.

Also, the cafe, which previously was open only for breakfast and lunch, now is open for dinner. It is owned and operated by Jim Rutolo and Mariella "Gracie" Volker.

Cherry Acres, which specializes in furniture made from barnwood, has expanded its Lititz store by moving into the retail space right below it.

The roughly 2,500-square-foot space on the lower level recently was a separate retail area with its own outside entrance.

Cherry Acres owner Craig Wolf recently oversaw the installation of interior stairs from the first floor to the basement. The outside entrance to the basement is being closed.

The store at 23 E. Main St. also has pottery, glassware, metal sculpture and home and garden decor. Cherry Acres has four employees.

Faithful Blessings Parties and Events, which has a variety of party supplies, has opened in Lancaster at 257 W. King St.

The 400-square-foot store has supplies, decorations and party favors for a variety of events, including baby showers and weddings. It also offers items for rent, including chairs.

The store is owned by Janett Rivera, who is helped by her mother, Carmen Rivera.

Hours: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. 283-5440.

The downtown Lancaster clothing store Jason's likely will shut its doors for good in the next week or two, ending 53 years for the business at 43 W. King St.

Glen Quinn, who owns the 2,400-square-foot store with his wife, Toni Jacobson Quinn, had announced plans last fall to close the men's and women's clothing store.

Instead, the Quinns kept the store open as they sold off inventory so they were able to keep the insurance on the building, they explained.

The two sides of the store had been connected, with 47 W. King St. operating as the women's side. That space closed last April and now houses a MetroPCS, which offers prepaid wireless phones.

The Quinns, who own the building, now are looking for a new tenant for 43 W. King.
