After the vocal sing-off, the coach must choose which of the two singers will advance to the knockout round. The losing artist can then be picked up by another coach.
The other coaches were split on who to keep. Mention was made by Shelton that Briggs was able to sing in the same key as powerhouse Serna on a song that has some high notes to hit, a tough job for a male singer.
In the end, Shakira said she wanted to keep Serna. Briggs was sent home after not being picked up by another coach.
The battle rounds are pre-recorded. Briggs, who works at the the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, was back at his state job this week.
