Jonathan D. Epstein, The Buffalo News, N.Y.
April 02--A California insurance brokerage that has been snapping up smaller agencies nationwide to build a national network has struck again in Western New York.
Confie Seguros, based in Huntington Beach, didn't say how much it paid to buy Williamsville-based Bronkie Agency Inc., which specializes in personal lines and small commercial insurance. Bronkie was founded in 1961.
Confie also bought small gencies in Kissimmee, Fla., and Columbia, S.C. It now has 650 offices nationwide in 17 states, including 52 in New York, 31 in Florida and 13 in South Carolina, after buying and integrating over 80 businesses since its launch in 2008. Confie, which is owned by private-equity firm ABRY Partners, has over $350 million in annual revenues.
Locally, it previously acquired Keller Group, The Potwora Agency, Coppola Insurance, Cannello Agency, CW Baker Insurance Agency, Lewiston Insurance Agency, DeFranco Insurance Agency, Bower Insurance, AA Insurance Services, The Insurance Market Agency Inc. and Action Auto Insurance Agency Inc.
"We continue to identify potential partners who have built strong businesses and are looking for a succession plan that provides a strong home for their business and the ability to continue to participate in the ongoing management of the business," said Confie CEO Valeria Rico. "As we complete our first quarter, our pipeline of potential acquisitions remains robust and we are on track to meet our growth targets for the year."
