Terri Rose was promoted to executive director. Mitchell Bunnells was promoted to clinical director. Jerrell Hairr and Angela Cain are the certified substance abuse counselor interns. Dave Sirak is the environmental engineer. William Grant, Pamela Austin and William Burgess are paraprofessionals. Patti Donovan is the Myrover-Reese Thrift Store manager. Evon Ray is the store's assistant manager. Vance Cline is the store's customer service technician. Teresa Clark and Fred Buie are the senior residents.

Fred McKinney of Fayetteville has been elected to the board of trustees at Oak Ridge Military Academy in Oak Ridge. He is a graduate of the academy and retired as the special agent in charge of the southeastern district of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Oak Ridge is the state's official military school for high school students.

Tony Prevatte, owner of Prevatte's Home Sales in Lumberton, has been appointed as the retailer representative to the N.C. Manufactured Housing Licensing Board. Prevatte was appointed by Gov. Bev Perdue and will serve until September 2014. The board licenses and regulates manufacturers, retailers, salesmen and setup contractors. It also hears and decides warranty service complaints by consumers. Prevatte has been in the industry for more than 40 years.

A+ Moving and Storage has joined the Wheaton World Wide Moving network of 250 agents across the country. Family owned and operated, A+ Moving and Storage was an independent moving company until it became a Wheaton partner, with three warehouses in Fayetteville. Jerry Hare is president of the company, which was founded in 1945.

Holmes Security Systems received three awards for 2011 at Honeywell Security Systems' annual convention in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Duncan Hubbard, central station manager, accepted the Community Service Award for Holmes' participation with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The company provided security and camera systems for the project.

Dave Foster, marketing manager, accepted the Marketing Excellence Award for a direct-mail marketing program that targeted commercial customers and regional churches and synagogues on innovations in video security and access control.

Stephen Wheeler, president of Holmes Security Systems, accepted the Life Safety Award on behalf of Tiffany Turner, a central station supervisor who was instrumental in the apprehension of an armed intruder.

Christian Franco, a financial adviser with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, has successfully completed the firm's financial planning program in New York. Franco advises clients at the firm's wealth management office at 2153 Valleygate Drive.

April Morgan, a hairstylist at Salon 360, was named a certified Redken specialist. She has more than three years of experience in the industry.

Smith Advertising earned a Bronze Adrian Award from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International for the agency's digital marketing campaign for the Brunswick County Tourism Development Authority and North Carolina's Brunswick Islands. Smith has been the agency of record for the tourism authority for more than 15 years.

odds & ends

FirstHealth of the Carolinas and the Foundation of FirstHealth recognized recently retired FirstHealth CEO Charles T. Frock with honors related to his two-decade leadership. The Administration Building on the campus of FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital became the Charles T. Frock Leadership Center. The foundation's board of trustees also created the CEO Visionary Fund for Professional Leadership and Enrichment. The fund will support educational opportunities including scholarships for administrative, physician and nursing leaders and a speakers' series featuring experts in leadership development and innovation in health care.
