Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Can Help State Employees Locate HMO Providers In and Around Their Area

CHICAGO, June 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois can assist state employees as they look for network providers and options during their open enrollment period.  State employees can call customer service weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and our team can assist in answering any benefit questions, and in making their health care coverage transition easy.  Or, employees can log on to the state's customer website, bcbsil.com/stateofillinois, for highlight sheets or enrollment guides.

State employees residing in Boone, Christian, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Fulton, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, Logan, Macoupin, Madison, Marshall, McHenry, Menard, Monroe, Morgan, Ogle, Peoria, Randolph, Saint Clair, Sangamon, Tazewell, Will, Winnebago and Woodford county have the option to select a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois HMO or Blue Advantage HMO plan in their area, and remain with their primary care physician.

However, employees do not need to live in these counties to be able to access the HMO network. Employees can choose a physician in a neighboring county, or in any of these counties, to receive treatment and referrals for specialists.

To find out which insurance plan their physician participates in, employees should contact their physician's office, or search the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Provider Finder database at bcbsil.com.

Employees have until June 17th to choose a managed care plan.
