BRIEF: Police: 10-year-old driver hits McSherrystown man [The York Dispatch, Pa.]

Nov. 05--A McSherrystown resident was struck and nearly run over by an out-of-control car that sailed into his driveway while being driven by a 10-year-old child, according to McSherrystown Police.

Michael Musselman, 62, McSherrystown, was sitting in his driveway at the rear of 26 Main St. around 1:40 p.m.Oct. 21 when the vehicle struck him, nearly ran over him, and finally came to a rest after striking his garage, police said.

Chief Michael Woods' investigation determined that Hanover resident Tiffany Sentz, 30, had permitted a 10-year-old child to operate the vehicle eastbound on Main Street and around the area, police said. Sentz was a passenger, as were two other children, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, police said.

Sentz is facing four counts of reckless endangerment, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and two summary violations of driving laws (one count of permitting an unauthorized person to drive and one count of failing to have the required insurance).

The legal driving age in Pennsylvania is 16.

Musselman was treated at Hanover Hospital and released. No one else was injured in the crash, police said.
