Azuga Proves Its GPS Technology Reduces Fleet Accidents by 70 Percent

PR Web

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) November 22, 2013

Azuga, a leading instant-install cloud-based GPS fleet tracking and driver behavior solution, reports that its customers are reducing fleet crashes by 40 percent within 90 days of deployment.

“We worked closely with automotive experts and insurance industry professionals to develop our driver safety solutions” said Ananth Rani, vice president and general manager of Azuga. “ We are seeing a tremendous improvement in fleet safety metrics as our customers deploy, measure and coach drivers to curb aggressive driving habits.”

Powered by Azuga’s G2TM technology, the device “reads” vehicles’ engine data up to 60 times more often than standard GPS tracking systems and sends data to the cloud, giving fleet administrators real-time snapshots of driver behavior, vehicle health, fuel usage and carbon footprint.

Fleet managers observed an added 30 percent reduction in fleet accidents with the addition of Azuga DriveSafeTM, a service that implements mobile device policies for fleet customers. This ‘prevent it before it happens’ solution, which launched in August of this year, is powered by the world’s leading technology to stop distracted driving, Cellcontrol™. With Azuga DriveSafe, employees’ phones are put in do-not-disturb mode, blocking disruptive emails and texts when vehicles are in motion.39 states have banned texting. Fines affect both the driver and the employer and can result in driver disqualification.

According to AAA ,43.4 million Americans will travel for the Thanksgiving holidays. This consumer travel combined with elevated truck traffic for stores and businesses leaves the roads cluttered and increases liability for fleet managers nationwide.

“With increased traffic and challenges to decrease drive-time and increase overall productivity during the holiday season, it’s necessary for fleet managers to have policies in place to meet goals and, most importantly, keep employees safe,” said Rani. “Thankfully, new breeds of fleet safety technology, like Azuga DriveSafe, can enforce these policies quickly and affordably.”

Azuga is led by a team of industry veterans with experience at Ford, GM, AT&T, Oracle, Xora, Telenav and Qualcomm. In addition, its parent company, Danlaw, Inc. manufactures Azuga’s OBDII device, ensuring hardware performance that’s trusted by top insurance companies. For each product sold, Azuga donates a portion to a charity of the customer's choice – several large organizations like the Leukemia and Lymphoma foundation, American Diabetes Association, World Vision and Save The Children have benefited from these contributions.
