Nov. 30--PALESTINE -- Motorcycle enthusiasts are encouraged to join the Anderson County Toy Run Saturday as a way of collecting 1,000 toys for the children of Anderson County.

Admission to ride is a new, unwrapped toy. Those interested can register at Carroll's Automotive in advance or on the day of the event.

The Toy Run will start at 4 p.m. Saturday at Carroll's Automotive, 4280 U.S. 287/Texas 19 South, eventually joining the Palestine Christmas and Toyland Parade of Lights in downtown Palestine at 6:45 p.m.

"This is for the kids and giving from the heart," Toy Run organizer Mark Grantz said. "We want to help the children have a better Christmas."

The toys collected will benefit the Anderson County Rainbow Room and the Palestine Multi-Cultural Education Center.

Grantz said the Anderson County Toy Run will help build awareness for the toy drive, which will continue through Dec. 16.

Boxes to collect toys have been set up at numerous businesses.
