Amica CEO joins board of WashTrust [The Day, New London, Conn.]
July 21--Washington Trust Bancorp on Tuesday named a top insurance executive in the Ocean State to the boards of directors for the financial-services firm and its Washington Trust Co. banking subsidiary.
The Westerly-based Washington Trust Bancorp said Robert A. DiMuccio, who is the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Amica Mutual Insurance Co., will formally begin his board duties on Sept. 1. He also will serve on Washington Trust's audit committee.
"Bob is a welcome addition to our board of directors," said Joseph J. MarcAurele, Washington Trust's chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a press release announcing the newest board member. "He is a well respected senior executive who has financial experience, strategic vision and a commitment to the Rhode Island community," he added.
Amica Mutual Insurance Co. is based in Lincoln, R.I. The firm is the nation's largest mutual (or policyholder owned) insurer of automobiles. In addition, the insurance company offers home, marine and life insurance products.
DiMuccio joined the insurance company in 1991 and has held several executive positions before being appointed its president and CEO in 2005. He is active with numerous insurance-related organizations and certified public accounting groups.
In addition, DiMuccio serves on many Rhode Island-based organizations and charitable associations as well as educational institutions. He is active with the Rhode Island School of Design, the Rhode Island Public Expenditures Council and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
DiMuccio is a member of the President's Council of Providence College and is a board member as well as past president of the Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
