American Consumer Credit Counseling Partners with MassSaves to Launch First Annual State House Financial Capability Day

PR Web

Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 27, 2014

On February 27th, American Consumer Credit Counseling along with fellow Massachusetts Financial Education Collaborative (MFEC) members, State Senator Jamie Eldridge of Acton, State Representative Viriato Manuel DeMacedo of Plymouth, and State Representative Danielle Gregoire of Marlborough, will collaborate with MassSaves, to host the first annual State House Financial Capability Day. During the State House Financial Capability Day, ACCC and other organizations will present to legislators and staff on financial education and capability work going on in the various legislative districts across the Commonwealth.

“The State House Financial Capability Day brings together policy makers and financial organizations that share a strong commitment to empowering each citizen of the Commonwealth with the education necessary to build a healthy financial foundation,” stated Steve Trumble, president and CEO of American Consumer Credit Counseling. “We are thrilled to collaborate with such well-respected legislators, individuals and community partners to begin a tradition at the State House that will continue for many years to come.”

At the event, ACCC representatives Sue Katz, Matthew Paradise and Clete Thomas will focus on financial literacy for older adults, military families and veterans. ACCC will also host a one-hour seminar about how to manage personal finances in a crisis

A variety of financial planning organizations and community partners will also host hour-long seminars on a wide-range of topics such as financial coaching techniques and skills, credit repair and management, managing student loans on a low salary, and managing personal finances in a crisis.

Additional presenters include Ms. Money and the Coins, Somerville Community Corporation, the Boston Fed (Community Colleges), Monson Savings Banks, MFEC’s Veterans & Military Task Force, Jump$tart Coalition, and many more. Massachusetts’ State House Financial Capability Day is a part of America Saves Week, an annual opportunity for organizations to promote good savings behavior and a chance for individuals to assess their own saving status.
