June 09--SPICER -- Kevin Soine struck out nine in a complete-game victory, singled twice at the plate and had two teammates go 2-for-4 Sunday as New London-Spicer toppled Regal 5-1 in a County Line League game.

Soine had at least one strikeout in seven innings and didn't give up more than one hit in an inning as the Twins outhit the visiting Eagles 9-6. Regal's lone run came in the third when Chris Beier singled in Jordan Beier.

The Twins tied the game in the bottom half when Ryan Vraa singled to lead off the frame and came home on Soine's first hit. NLS pulled ahead in the sixth when Regal's lone error and a Jake Damhof single allowed Jake Rambow to score.

The Twins then put together a three-run eighth, sparked by Soine and Scott Rambow singles and a Mike Danielson double. Scott Rambow and Danielson finished with two hits apiece.

Both teams reached double figures in hits, but Paynesville committed two more errors than Starbuck in the game played in Regal. The Stars led the entire way with their two-run eighth proving to be the deciding factor.

Mike Andreas got eight outs on the mound to earn the win and save. He got the final two outs in the sixth and worked the seventh before being lifted for Joe Hiedelberger, who pitched the eighth and gave up a run in the ninth. Andreas then re-entered and got the final three outs.

Trenton Berg, Mike Nielson and Tyler Nielson all singled and doubled for Starbuck. Caleb Burris tripled and Aaron Savelkoul added a double for the Pirates.

Jesse Bjur threw a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts and got plenty of support in the seven-inning contest to help the Islanders improve to 10-2.

Mark Neubaur ignited the Bullfrogs' offense with a triple and two singles, while Dylan Gass, Shawn Dollerschell and Logan Swan had two hits apiece in a 13-hit attack.

The Bullfrogs took charge in the fourth when New Ulm starter Mitchel Kelly issued three straight walks to open the inning and Gass hit a two-run single and Tyler Hebrink smashed a two-run double.

New London-Spicer was trailing 7-6 entering its half of the eighth before pulling ahead with Jake Damhof's RBI triple, Jake Rambow's RBI single and Mike Danielson's RBI groundout.

Dean Stier got the win in relief of starter Patrick Courtney after striking out 11 and scattering four hits and two runs in five-plus innings of work.

Six players got two hits each for NLS, while Jake Amundson and Trenton Berg had three hits apiece for Starbuck. One of Berg's hits was a two-run homer in a four-run fourth.

Ben Maiers sparked the outburst by going 4-for-5, stealing two bases, scoring three times and knocking in a run. Five other Bullfrogs had two hits each, one being Tyler Hebrink who singled and doubled to drive in three runs.

Cameron Vien and Joe Schlagel had three hits each for Montevideo, but a 9-1 deficit after seven innings was too much for the Spartans to overcome.

Tyler Kanten and Dylan Lindstrom, the winning pitcher, had two hits each with Kanten slugging a two-run double in the third that gave Granite Falls an early 2-0 lead. The Kilowatts never trailed and got insurance with a three-run fourth -- highlighted by Brandon Grund's two-run single -- and a four-run sixth -- highlighted by a two-run single from Andrew Walters.

Lindstrom struck out 10 and scattered six hits, four runs and four walks in seven innings of work. Cody Fruin struck out the two batters he faced in the ninth to end the game and pick up a save.
