Aimee Belgard Declares Support for the National Disaster Tax Relief Act

WILLINGBORO, N.J., July 22 -- The campaign of Aimee Belgard, a Democrat running for election in New Jersey's3rd Congressional District, issued the following campaign news:

Aimee Belgard declared her support for the Natural Disaster Tax Relief Act today, which is sponsored by 15 Republicans, including Congressman Runyan, and 15 Democrats. The bill would provide much-needed relief to the victims of natural disasters through a number of measures including tax credits, new financing options for homeowners, the creation of pre-tax disaster accounts for businesses, and an increase to the low-income housing credit allocation for states damaged by natural disasters. "For many folks in our community, most especially those in Ocean County, the process of rebuilding after Superstorm Sandy has been long, and in some cases, impossible. Many are still waiting for insurance claims to be fulfilled before they start the process of rebuilding, and a lot of folks have received pennies on the dollar for what they claimed. This bill would provide some much-needed relief to people whose lives were upended by Superstorm Sandy and other natural disasters," said Aimee Belgard. "Last week, my opponent offered his support for a measure that would lower taxes for multi-millionaires like himself. This week, I hope he'll join me in supporting this legislation, which will provide tax relief for hard-working individuals and families in their time of need."

Tom MacArthur made tens of millions of dollars as the President and CEO of York Insurance, a company that has been sued for fraud, negligence and breach of contract for allegedly delaying and denying claims to the victims of natural disasters.
