Affordable Care Act navigators to be in Southwest Georgia through March 8

Feb. 27--ALBANY -- Individuals and small business owners who may have missed the recent opportunity in Albany can receive information and assistance with applying for the health insurance marketplace offered under the Affordable Care Act at upcoming workshops in Sylvester, Cuthbert and Americus.

The free workshops are being facilitated by Phoebe Putney Health System in partnership with Seedco, the Structured Employment Economic Development Corporation. On Saturday, workshops will be held in Sylvester at the Worth County Board of Education cafeteria at 103 Eldridge St., and in Cuthbert at the Randolph County Library located at 200 E. Pearl St. Both events will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On March 8, navigators will be in Americus at the Staley Middle School cafeteria, at 915 N. Lee St., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More than 150 people attended a similar event at the Albany Civic Center last week, officials at Phoebe said.

Coordinators say certified health navigators will help attendees evaluate their eligibility, inform them of available subsidies, compare options to identify the plan that best meets their health care needs and fits their budget and provide assistance with using the system's computers to enroll in one of the new marketplace exchange insurance plans. Navigators will be available to meet with attendees during a set schedule of walk-in hours.

Translated materials will be available for non-English speaking individuals. To receive assistance with enrollment, attendees must bring verification of income and social security numbers for household members.

The deadline to apply for coverage during the current cycle is March 31. Information about the health plans is available by visiting www.healthcare.gov or by calling 1-855-899-6092.
