Honors, designations and recognitions

Construction

Cayman Islands-based Raffles Insurance Ltd. gave Keystruct Construction Inc. a Silver Safety award and a Fleet Safety Award for the 2009-10 policy year. The Fleet Safety Award recognizes driving between 200,000 and 1 million miles with no accidents.

Designations

The American College of Radiology gave Miller and DiPietro Associates, which provides imaging services at Memorial Hospital, accreditation in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging.

The Pennsylvania Public Relations Society gave retired U.S. Army Reserve Col. John P. Maietta its Ernest M. McDowell Award for excellence in the field of communications. Nonprofits

York-based Bell Socialization Services presented TJ Maxx of Hanover the agency's Employer of the Year award for providing opportunity for clients "to live and work in the community with dignity and independence." The store was nominated by Mallory Ford, supportedemployment job coach with Bell's mental health vocational rehabilitation program.

The Center for Independent Living of Central PA gave its Living Well with a Disability Business Award to Cumberland County-based Gannett Fleming Inc., which encourages its employees to give back to the community, and to two individuals from information technology services who have donated computers, participated in yearly events for people with disabilities, and offered time and financial support to make an Internet café a reality for people with disabilities. Aaron's Acres of Lancaster County received the Nonprofit Award. The agency provides therapeutic programs for children with disabilities, and programs for parents and siblings that help build self-confidence, strong moral character and a feeling of acceptance. The Volunteer Award was given to Edward Dick of Perry County, who has helped his brother and many other people with disabilities live fuller lives by coordinating events to help families pay hospital bills and finding someone to make meals for those in need. Nicole Moore of Cumberland County, who was born with spinal muscular atrophy, received the Youth Individual Award. She is a student at Mechanicsburg Area High School who constantly strives for new opportunities. She is involved with the marching and symphonic bands and the Concert Chorale, and participates in stage and paint crews for school musicals, all while keeping her GPA in the top quarter of the graduating class. Tamera Tankersley of Dauphin County received the Adult Individual Award. Diagnosed with Gullien Barre syndrome, she was told by doctors that she would never walk again. But three months later, she walked into the doctor's office. Later, she completed a walk-a-thon on foot although many thought she wouldn't be able to finish without her wheelchair. She also takes care of her mother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. She has proved she can do anything she puts her mind to and helps others do the same.

Alexandria, Va.-based Textile Rental Services Association of America gave Patrick J. Dempsey its Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 50-year career as a company owner in the textile services business. He is owner and chairman of Lackawanna County-based Dempsey Uniform & Linen Supply Inc.

Atlanta-based Kids II Inc., which produces Bright Starts toddler and infant products, named Diana Klunk of Hanover one of its 2011 Pink Power Moms for being a role model in the fight against breast cancer. Klunk founded and operates Life Changes Boutique Inc., a shop for women living with cancer, and she helps bring free wigs and makeup to women in cancer treatment.
