ARCADIS Remediation Experts Honored by Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council

DENVER, Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ARCADIS (EURONEXT: ARCAD), the international consultancy, design, engineering and management services company, announced the company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Malcolm Pirnie, were acknowledged for exceptional service by the Interstate Technology and Regional Council (ITRC) in 2010. Three employees received industry recognition awards at the ITRC late 2010 in .

The ITRC is a coalition of state environmental regulatory agencies, industry partners and subject matter experts that work together to develop information resources and help break down barriers for the acceptance and use of technically sound and innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

"Working as part of an ITRC team allows us to pool information and experience with others to collectively advance the state of knowledge on emerging issues," said Elisabeth Hawley, a senior project manager at Malcolm Pirnie's Emeryville, CA office who works on both the Green Remediation and Remediation Risk Management teams for the ITRC. "I'm continually impressed with the group's ability to move forward and formulate useful guidance, despite uncertainty in the regulatory environment."

The federal partners, industry participants and other stakeholders of the ITRC cooperate to reduce compliance costs, making it easier for states to use technology while maximizing resources. The result of these projects is a broadened technical knowledge and streamlined regulation of new environmental technologies within the environmental community. Recognition in this forum is the result of hard work, collaboration and thought leadership.

The ARCADIS and Malcolm Pirnie, the Water Division of ARCADIS honorees include:

  • Rula Deeb, Ph.D., vice president, technology and applied research leader of Malcolm Pirnie's Emeryville, Calif. office, for her work with the Remediation Risk Management team.
  • Denice Nelson, Ph.D., principal engineer, manager of in situ bioremediation services with ARCADIS' Minneapolis office, for her work with the Environmental Impacts of Ethanol and Bio-Based Fuels team.
  • Jennifer Nyman, Ph.D., senior environmental engineer for Malcolm Pirnie's Emeryville, Calif. office, for her work with the Attenuation Processes for Metals and Radionuclides team.

ARCADIS' and Malcolm Pirnie's participation in the ITRC helps establish and maintain each brand as a leader in expediting and improving the environmental cleanup process. Active membership in the ITRC provides the companies one more opportunity to help lead important technical and regulatory developments and advance the cutting edge of the environmental remediation industry.
