CAMAS, Washington, Feb. 14 -- The Underwriters Laboratories issued the following news release:
UL held its 10th Annual India Fire Council Meeting in Bangalore with two full days of meetings and activities this past December. The event was hosted by Jagdish V., the Chair of the India Council. Dwayne Sloan, Chair of UL's Fire Council, welcomed the gathering and reiterated UL's mission and rich heritage in helping to make the world a safer place.
He also related the India Council's success to the century-long contributions of UL's Fire Council. Dr. Pravin Gandhi also spoke of the India Council's growth and provided a report on the previous year's contributions. Other UL technical speakers, moderators and panelists included Desikan Srinivasa, Tej Kumar, Sean DeCrane and Bob James.
The India Fire Council is comprised of prominent architects, consultants, oil and gas industry leaders, representatives from the National Building Code, academia, fire chiefs and fire forensic experts. The group focused on several topics, including fire suppression products and the quest for more sustainable alternatives, concerns with exterior combustible facades, and discussions on firefighter safety and tactics. The meetings were followed by a networking dinner.
Day two of the meeting included discussions, presentations and fire demonstrations at the UL-JFL suppression test facility. Later in the week, UL hosted the 4th annual Certified Fire Forensics Program led by Bob James and Novak Forensics Inc. There were 30 participants from insurance, industry and firefighting fraternities.
