Idaho Statesman (Boise)
Mar. 2--After two decades in the Idaho House of Representatives, 10-term Republican Rep. Gary Collins, of Nampa, has announced that he won't seek re-election.
Collins, an insurance broker who was born in Boise and graduated from Kuna High School, said in a press release that he made the decision "with a heavy heart."
"I've made a lot of great friends in my time as a civil servant, and I've also made a difference for my constituents," Collins said in the release. "I care deeply for my community in Nampa, and this state where I was born, raised a family and built a business. There are many ways in which I will continue to serve and give back to the community that has given me so much."
Collins first won election in District 13, House Seat B in 2000. He is the chairman of the House Revenue & Taxation Committee, and also serves on the Business and Local Government committees.
