Humana is looking to meet the demand for the annual Medicare open enrollment period in the fall, so it is adding an estimated 500 telesales specialists and leadership jobs nationally to its full-time Direct Marketing Services (DMS) telesales workforce.
The new jobs will support Humana’s DMS retail sales and enrollment operations, and will be located at Humana call centers around the country. The company said it would add 60 positions in Madison, Wis., 80 in Miramar, Fla., 110 in Phoenix, 80 in San Antonio and 170 positions in Tampa, Fla.
All numbers are approximate, the company also said.
“These new jobs will ensure that we are well positioned to offer world-class enrollment support to the Medicare beneficiaries and those seeking enrollment assistance for individual health plans,” Khursheed Zafar, vice president of Direct Marketing Services for Humana, said in a news release. “We’re pleased to be hiring for such a large number of jobs and continuing our commitment to the communities where our call centers are located.”
Humana's first-quarter net income nearly doubled to $473 million from $248 million a year ago, the company also reported earlier this month.
The telesales and client services positions will provide national retail phone sales and enrollment support for Humana’s Medicare benefit plans and senior products as well as individual health and specialty products, the company said.
The positions will handle inquiries and provide guidance to develop comprehensive benefit solutions for new and existing Humana members nationwide.
Medicare open enrollment lasts from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. Demand for the government-funded health care insurance program is expected to surge as waves of baby boomers retire and become eligible for Medicare coverage.
Humana is seeking to fill the positions immediately with starting dates from June 3 to July 15. The company employs nearly 49,000 full-time and part-time associates nationwide, including subsidiary companies.
