Settlers Life has promoted a former life insurance agent to the position of marketing services director. Josh Dixon will help lead the insurer's efforts at recruiting and incentivizing agents for the final expense brand of the company, part of the NGL Insurance Group.
Dixon, a former life insurance agent, had been with Settlers' marketing department since 2010. "I am very pleased to have the opportunity to further serve the agents of Settlers Life," he said, according to a company release. "I look forward to being a part of what the years ahead hold in store for our company, agents and policyholders."
Based in Bristol, Va., Settlers specializes in immediate benefit whole life policies sold through a network of more than 3,200 independent agents. Its parent company, National Guarding Life (NGL), is a mutual life insurer licensed in 49 states and the District of Columbia. NGL's longtime chief executive officer, John D. Larson, retired from the top post after serving since 1989, although he remains chairman of the insurer's board of directors.
Settlers also will honor its 28 top-producing agents at an annual conference in May where honorees and their guests will hear from leading industry speakers. Agents due for recognition include Randy Shupe, Wayne Chafin and Allen Leichty, each of whom attained the highest level of sales at Settlers in 2012. Bobby Lloyd, Lynn Booher, Mike Scroggs, Delphia Ferguson, Jeff Hare, Frank Nemeth, Larry Horne, Doug Ball, James Williams II, Robert Blackburn, Ronnie Dyer, Jay Everson, Chick Rakes, Don Fain, Thomas Bodner and Steve Stanley are also being honored.
Agencies being recognized include Huff-Cook, MBA, American Benefit Ltd., One Life America, National Insurance Agency, Future Planning Services, Robert A. Swanson, Murphrey Marketing, Royland Skirvin and Jimmy Lamar Clements.
