Afghanistan Veteran Shares Warm Comeback Story With NAHU Members

SAN DIEGO -- Emotion and patriotism were the theme for the morning opening ceremonies at the National Association of Health Underwriters' annual conference.

Featured speaker Cedric King drew admiration and pride for his 17-year career in the U.S. Army, during which he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the Meritorious Service Medal.

On July 25, 2012, King was severely injured by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan. Both his legs were amputated and he suffered permanent damage to his right arm and hand.

The afternoon "Vision Speak" session encouraged attendees to look within at how they treat people and whether they can do more to be inspiring to others.

Motivational speaker Gordon Viggiano opened up about his stroke and how it tested him.
