RALEIGH, N.C., April 17 -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation issued the following news release:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation is pleased to announce David Tyeryar will serve as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Tyeryar's strategic and innovative financial planning, oversight and leadership experience will be critical as the department continues to look for new ways to meet growing transportation infrastructure demands, while facing a continuing decline in traditional revenue sources.
Tyeryar most recently served as Deputy Secretary and CFO for the Virginia Department of Transportation where he helped implement a number of funding reforms to help that state address similar challenges. In that role, Tyeryar helped pass Virginia's first comprehensive transportation funding plan in 27 years, which provides more than 13,000 jobs and $9.5 billion in economic investments. He also established the office of Public Private Partnerships, which resulted in more than $5 billion in projects, using less than $1 billion in state funds.
Tyeryar previously served as Budget Director and Accounting Division Manager for Prince William County, Va.
"I'm proud to have David join the team. His experience and skills will serve our citizens well, and help us to expand economic opportunities," said NCDOT Secretary Tony Tata.
Tyeryar starts his new role with NCDOT on Monday, April 21.
