Liberty Northwest® Returns More Than $3.7 Million to Oregon Restaurateurs for Safety Performance

Portland, OR - August 27, 2008 - Liberty Northwest, a Liberty Mutual Agency Markets regional company, today announced strong return results for its Liberty Northwest/Oregon Restaurant Association (LNW/ORA) workers’ compensation insurance program.
Member restaurants will share a retrospective rating adjustment for the policy year ending January 1, 2008 of more than $3.7 million, a figure that accounts for premium adjustments, tax savings, and non-disabling medical reimbursements. The average member account savings is more than 25 percent.
“As a result of this partnership with Liberty Northwest, ORA members have been able to participate in a hospitality-focused workers’ compensation group program that has been so successful that participants have annually received a retrospective rating return since 1986,” said Steve McCoid, ORA President and Chief Executive Officer.
‘These exceptional returns are directly tied the participating restaurants’ strong commitment to safety, and the plan results prove it,” said Denise Moore, LNW/ORA Group Program Director. “These results speak to the effectiveness of loss prevention, claims management, and return-to-work specialists who have the expertise and specialized resources to help employers maintain safe workplaces and achieve successful resolution of workers’ compensation claims.”
Liberty Northwest offers an effective workers’ compensation cost reduction strategy by providing employers with short- and long-term incentives for improving safety and then rewarding good safety performance with significant end-of-year plan savings.
