Michael C. Sorensen, Joins Highland Capital Brokerage as Managing Principal, Brokerage Distribution
(Birmingham, AL, May 8, 2017) – Highland Capital Brokerage, Inc. (HCB) a subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. announced today that Michael C. Sorensen has joined the company as Managing Principal, Brokerage Distribution, leading a new line of business called Brokerage Partners. Brokerage Partners allows Highland to scale its business with centralized processing, underwriting, and advanced markets prowess to local and regional brokerage agencies around the country.

Mr. Sorensen is a highly respected leader who has produced significant results throughout his 27-year career, most notably as Managing Principal of Universal Insurance Services, LLC, headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. There, he developed several key underwriting practices that resulted in placing Universal’s conversion ratios of informal to formal business among the highest in the industry. Mr. Sorensen helped implement countless improvements that increased profitability and also established Universal’s position as one of the fastest growing and most profitable BGA’s in the industry. In addition, Mr. Sorensen is an influential member within the insurance industry, participating in multiple field advisory councils, including the Risk Appraisal Forum.
