National Life Group Responds to School Safety Concerns Through Redesigned Agent Certification Program

Addison, TX  - May 17, 2013 — In light of increasing threats to school campuses across the country, National Life Group, through its member company Life Insurance Company of the Southwest, has implemented a comprehensive agent vetting and certification process to help build confidence within the school districts in which it does business.

“As a company, it was just the right thing for us to do,” says Wade H. Mayo, Head of the Retirement Division. “Our vision is to bring peace of mind to everyone we touch, and we need to access school campuses in order to provide retirement solutions to our nation’s educators.  By thoroughly vetting and training the agents who represent us, we try our best to offer school districts peace of mind.  It lets our customers know we take their needs seriously and do what it takes to be a great business partner.”

The Company already had a detailed agent training program in place for those who work in the 403(b)/457(b) market.  It recently increased the agent vetting process and incorporated comprehensive, on-going background checks to its standard on-boarding procedures.  Additionally, it has redesigned its agent certification program to include thorough on campus procedural training, ethics, and behavioral training on top of detailed training on 403(b)/457(b) plan fundamentals.

Upon successful completion of this process, agents who represent National Life Group will receive a photo identification badge, which will need to be renewed and reissued on an annual basis.
