Yakima bar Hoops remains closed following fire

Jan. 08--YAKIMA, Wash. -- Nearly a week after a rooftop fire led Hoops Bar to temporarily close its doors, a definitive date for reopening remains uncertain.

"We are just waiting on insurance adjusters to tell us what the next step is," said an administrator of the Hoops Facebook page late Monday. "Could be two weeks, could be four weeks."

Firefighters were called to extinguish flames from the heating and ventilation system on the building's roof on Thursday. The fire damaged the HVAC unit, and caused light smoke and water damage in the building at 2103 W. Lincoln Ave.

In a Facebook post, Hoops apologized to its customers, calling the fire an inconvenience. Commenters responded with relief that damage was minimal and no one was injured.

Hoops will make an announcement once a reopening date is set.
