XL Catlin Upgraded to Full Berne Union Membership

WASHINGTON, July 7 -- XL Catlin, a brand used by XL Group, issued the following news release:

XL Catlin has been voted in as the newest full voting member of the Berne Union, the leading association for the global export credit and investment insurance industry.

XL Catlin will be represented at the Berne Union by the Political Risk, Credit and Bond (PRCB) team, which provides a broad range of insurance solutions for a wide variety of companies operating internationally including: exporters, traders, banks, investors, export credit and public-sector multilateral agencies, which are trading and investing around the world.

Mr. Riordan has had a long association with the Berne Union, holding the position of President between 2013 and 2015.

Founded in 1934, the Berne Union represents 84 companies from 73 countries, including export credit agencies, public and private insurers and multilateral agencies. In 2016 Berne Union members provided payment risk protection to banks, exporters and investors amounting to more than $1.9 trillion - equivalent to 11% of total world cross border trade* (according to WTO Statistics).

Berne Union President, Topi Vesteri also welcomed the confirmation of XL Catlin's promotion, commenting that "Throughout their tenure as Observers, XL Catlin have engaged energetically and enthusiastically in Berne Union meetings and initiatives.
