XL Catlin Boosts Inland Marine Insurance Capabilities In San Francisco and Baltimore

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Insurance Weekly News -- XL Catlin continues to expand its inland marine field operations with the addition of Russell Crooks as Vice President, National Inland Marine Director, based in San Francisco and Maria Klein as senior underwriter in Baltimore.

According to Michael Perrotti, Senior Vice President and Inland Marine Practice Leader for XL Catlin's Marine Business in North America, "For the last several years, we've been expanding our operations, putting our inland marine insurance expertise closer to their clients, agents and brokers with the intent to provide better service. We're especially pleased to acquire such experienced marine insurance talent that Russell and Maria possess. Their expertise will prove invaluable to our brokers and clients in these key markets and to our team overall as we continue to enhance and develop new inland market insurance products that meet new and emerging business risks."

In his new role with XL Catlin, Mr. Crooks will liaise with brokers and clients throughout the western US to address their diverse inland marine insurance needs including motor truck cargo, builder's risk, contractor's equipment, and logistics inland marine products, among others. Most recently, he served as Chubb's regional inland marine practice leader and underwriter. He joins XL Catlin with more than 20 years of inland marine underwriting and business development experience. Mr. Crooks is a graduate of Sacramento State University.

Ms. Klein joins XL Catlin with more than 25 years of marine insurance experience in all lines of marine coverages, inland, hull and P&I, marine liabilities and cargo. Most recently, she served an ocean cargo underwriter at CNA Marine. She brings with her a vast amount of experience and her 25 year career includes working for CNA Marine, MOAC and Allianz/Fireman's Fund. Ms. Klein is a graduate of Wake Forest University.

XL Catlin's Global Marine business provides insurance for clients with special coverage needs for their marine exposures, including Inland Marine, Ocean Cargo, Blue and Brown Water Hull, P&I, as well as Excess and Primary Marine Liabilities.
