Wrongful death suit filed in fatal motorcycle crash

Dec. 06--BLUE EARTH -- The family of a motorcyclist killed in a 2017 crash in Faribault County has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the other driver involved.

A civil suit recently filed in Faribault County District Court accuses Zachary R. Adams of negligence in the May 16, 2017 crash that killed Tom Hince of Delavan.

Adams failed to yield while crossing County Road 13 on 160th Street south of Delavan, according to a Faribault County Sheriff's Office news release. Hince lost control while breaking and was thrown from his motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.

Hince died two days later at a hospital.

The lawsuit filed by Hince's wife, daughters, mother and brother seeks compensation for financial loses as well as loss of "comfort, assistance and companionship."

A response from Adams' attorney admits there was a crash but denies negligence. The response notes that Hince's wife already received a settlement from Adams' insurance company.
