Word & Brown Offering Oscar® to Los Angeles and Orange County Small Businesses

Insurance Weekly News

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Insurance Weekly News -- Word & Brown General Agency has added a small group health option to its California portfolio: Oscar. The addition of Oscar's new business plans gives brokers and employers in Los Angeles and Orange County more choice when it comes to finding a flexible health insurance plan to meet the diverse needs of different employee groups.

Six different small group Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) health plans are available for coverage effective June 1, 2018, including two Health Savings Account-compatible plans.

"We are excited about Oscar's new group plans, and look forward to helping brokers expand their service to Los Angeles and Orange County small businesses in search of affordable employee health insurance," said Jessica Word, president of Word & Brown. "Oscar offers access to top-quality providers, including UCLA Health, USC Keck, Providence, St. Joseph, Good Samaritan, Hoag, and others."

"Oscar offers cost-competitive premiums on par with HMO plans, but 20 percent cheaper than most PPOs," noted Michael Lujan, California Market Director at Oscar. "I'm confident brokers will welcome the addition of these affordable plans for their Southern California clients."

Other advantages include no referrals to see in-network specialists, unlimited no-cost telemedicine available on every plan, flexible participation rules, and tools to assist brokers - including a dedicated support team.

Oscar is great for all kinds of businesses - accounting firms, start-ups, creative agencies, law firms, restaurants, salons, construction companies, family firms of all sorts, and others. It's a perfect "in-between" solution for employers that want more control over their health care than an HMO allows, but don't want to raise costs.

Oscar has been offering health coverage in California since 2016. It has achieved outstanding customer satisfaction scores that are three times the industry average, based on internal Net Promoter Score (NPS) survey results and the Deft Research 2017 Individual & Family Member Experience Research Report.

A leader in distributing health benefit plan models and solutions to businesses, Word & Brown works with premier insurers to deliver a comprehensive product portfolio - providing brokers with innovative sales tools, industry-leading quoting, personalized sales support, a commitment to helping them increase sales, and a pledge to "Service of Unequalled Excellence."
