Westland police investigate reported stabbing after body found, but offer few details

Westland police are investigating what appears to be a fatal stabbing early Tuesday morning in which unconfirmed news reports and tweets said the victim was an Uber driver.

Authorities did not immediately respond to calls from the Free Press, but other news outlets reported a body was found along Palmer Road and that roadway was blocked at Northgate and Gloria so detectives could investigate.

Mike Campbell with WWJ-AM (Newsradio 950) tweeted he saw police evidence markers in the grass near a Honda Civic, which was towed away at about 7 a.m., but added that police declined to comment.

WDIV-TV (Chanel 4) reported it was not clear what lead to the stabbing or if any arrests have been made, and that authorities had released few details, but aired video of the evidence markers detectives placed in the grass.

Just after 7 a.m., WXYZ-TV (Chanel 7) reported Palmer Road had been reopened.
