WEDEVELOPMENT FEDERAL CREDIT UNION MERGES INTO COMMUNITYAMERICA FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

States News Service

The following information was released by the National Credit Union Administration:

Member Deposits Remain Protected up to $250,000; Member Services Uninterrupted

Alexandria, VA WeDevelopment Federal Credit Union of Kansas City, Missouri, merged into CommunityAmerica Federal Credit Union of Lenexa, Kansas, effective today.

Members transferring to CommunityAmerica Federal Credit Union will experience no interruption in services. All accounts remain insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (Share Insurance Fund). Administered by NCUA, the Share Insurance Fund insures individual accounts up to $250,000, and a members interest in all joint accounts combined is insured up to $250,000. IRA and KEOGH retirement accounts are separately insured up to $250,000. The Share Insurance Fund is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States.

Members with questions about their accounts may contact CommunityAmerica Federal Credit Union at 913.905.7000. Members with questions about Share Insurance Fund coverage can find additional information in the Share Insurance Coverage section of NCUAs MyCreditUnion.gov consumer website.

On July 10, 2026, NCUA placed WeDevelopment Federal Credit Union into conservatorship and appointed itself as the conservator. The agency worked to address issues affecting the credit unions safety and soundness. After analysis and stakeholder engagement, NCUA determined that merging WeDevelopment Federal Credit Union into CommunityAmerica Federal Credit Union was in the best interest of its members.

WeDevelopment Federal Credit Union was a federally insured and chartered institution serving 1,015 members with $2.4 million in assets, according to its most recent Call Report. Chartered in 2022, WeDevelopment Federal Credit Union served underserved communities within 57 census tracts in Jackson County, Missouri.

CommunityAmerica Federal Credit Union is a federally insured and chartered credit union with 594,689 members and assets of $9.0 billion, according to the credit unions most recent Call Report.
