Vetoes stop N.Y. bills that encourage more lawsuits

Hochul NEW YORK –Gov. Kathy Hochul has vetoed legislation that critics said would have increased insurance costs for New Yorkers while lining the pockets of trial lawyers. Hochul rejected bills that, among other things, would have forced out-of-state companies into New York courts and allowed wrongful-death plaintiffs more time to sue and recover more.
