Jan. 15--An explosive three-car accident at the corner of Market Street and Roosevelt Avenue blocked all four lanes of Roosevelt Avenue late Saturday morning, but only two people went to the hospital with minor injuries.
Chandler Tucker, 19, of Lockridge was driving a Ford 250 pick-up south on Roosevelt Avenue at about 11:35 a.m. when he ran the red light at the Market Street intersection. His truck collided with a 2007 Honda Accord driven by Jairo Tejada-Castro, 35, of Burlington, causing the Accord to flip over. Tejada-Castro had a green arrow to turn left onto Market Street at the time, and was facing north on Roosevelt Avenue.
The collision sent the truck driven by Tucker into the air, directly toward a 2001 Lincoln LS driven by Linda Ruplonger-Buren, 55, of West Burlington. The Lincoln was facing east on Market Street, waiting to turn right on Roosevelt.
The vehicles collided, causing the truck to flip over completely the Lincoln before coming to rest in the grassy area by Wendy's.
Ruplonger-Buren and Tejada-Castro had to be extracted from their vehicles and were taken to Great River Medical Center in West Burlington with minor injuries.
Tucker was cited for running a red light and no insurance, and a witness said he was traveling at high rate of speed.
