YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, Aug. 17 -- The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber issued the following news release:
Trumbull County Commissioners today granted a 10-year, 60 percent property tax abatement to Ohio Star Forge, which is looking to expand its existing facility in Champion Township.
The expansion at the company, located at 4000 Mahoning Avenue, would include additional square footage and the purchase of new machinery and equipment.
Champion Township Trustees unanimously approved Ohio Star Forge's application for an Enterprise Zone Tax Abatement, which is administered by the Trumbull County Planning Commission, Monday evening.
The potential project will comprise $4.8 million of investment and the creation of seven new jobs, as well as the retention of 117 jobs at the site.
"Today's approval, as well as Monday's, is a step closer to what we hope is a future announcement to move forward. We're still in the process of exploring additional assistance, based on the company's needs, that will support making this investment in Trumbull County. We're hopeful that everything will come together," said Genna Petrolla, manager of Business Development in Trumbull County for the Regional Chamber.
