NEW YORK (AP) _ The Travelers Cos. (TRV) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $1.33 billion.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had profit of $5.37. Earnings, adjusted for investment gains, came to $5.20 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.86 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $9.01 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $8.95 billion, also exceeding Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.71 billion.
