NEW YORK (AP) _ The Travelers Cos. (TRV) on Tuesday reported first-quarter earnings of $1.02 billion.
On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had net income of $4.15. Earnings, adjusted for investment costs, were $4.22 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.70 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $8.81 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $8.83 billion, missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.93 billion.
