Tillis Encourages North Carolinians To Apply For Hurricane Matthew Assistance Before Tomorrow’s Deadline

Congressional Documents & Publications

Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) is encouraging North Carolinians who sustained flood property damage from Hurricane Matthew to register for federal disaster assistance before tomorrow's January 23, 2017, FEMA deadline.

"Hurricane Matthew caused historic flooding damage that upended the lives of thousands of our fellow North Carolinians, and the recovery process will be long and difficult for many families and communities," said Senator Tillis. "Fortunately, there is federal assistance available for the victims of Hurricane Matthew, and I encourage North Carolinians to apply before tomorrow's FEMA deadline. My office remains a resource for North Carolinians during the recovery process, and my staff stands ready to help individuals who are registering for assistance."

Background on FEMA assistance registration

The deadline to register for assistance is Monday, January 23, 2017.

* Description of the damage

* Information about insurance coverage

* Telephone number

* Mailing address

* Bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of funds

Senator Tillis' office will open at 8:30am on Monday, and North Carolinians with questions about the FEMA registration process are encouraged to call his office at 919-856-4630.
