The Insurance Center announces new hires

Sun Journal (New Bern, NC)

April 10-- Apr. 10--Locally owned and operated insurance agency, the Insurance Center, has announced the hiring and filling of several positions. at the New Bern office located at 1320 Commerce Drive.

Ashley Mangum has joined the agency as a Commercial Account Manager for the hotel department.

Mangum's former experience was in the health industry where she served as a Clinical Aide in Physical/Acute Therapy and Cardiac Rehabilitation at WakeMed Health & Hospitals.

A 2017 graduate of East Carolina University, she received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Studies with a concentration in Community Health. A native of Knightdale, she now resides in New Bern where she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling and visiting the beach.

Christine Caamano has joined The Insurance Center as a Commercial Account Manager.

Caamano was formerly with Bailey and King Insurance where she specialized in Personal Lines.

A 2008 graduate of Lenoir Community College, she also was a graduate of Richlands High School. She resides in Richlands and enjoys spending time with her fiance Phillip and their children Mallory and Reid.

Karla Powell joins the team as an Assistant Account Manager in Commercial Lines.

She was formerly in patient Financial Services at CarolinaEast Health System.

Powell received her Associates degree in Business Administration from Craven Community College in 2017. A New Bern native, she resides there with her husband and four children. In her free time, Karla enjoys spending time with her children, supporting them at events, going to the pool and reading.

Stephanie Durbin joined the staff on March 12 as an Assistant Account Manager in Commercial Lines.

She was a former Associate Agent at NC Farm Bureau at the Carteret county office.

Durbin obtained her Associates' Degree from Carteret Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelors' Degree in Marketing from East Carolina University. A life-long resident of Newport, she is planning a wedding for the end of

2019. An avid outdoorsman, she is a member of the NC Wildlife Reserve, volunteers and enjoys all things outdoors including boating, fishing and hiking.

Bringing 15 years experience in the banking field to her position, Brittany Montes came on board on March 14 as Assistant Account Manager.

Montes formerly held the positions of Branch Banker III and Senior teller at BB&T.

A 2006 graduate of New Bern High school, she lives in New Bern with husband, Dennis and their 3 daughters, Allexis, Ava and Alivia. Montes enjoys spending time supporting her children's activities, crafting with friends, and all that ENC living brings... Beach, BBQ's and Bonfires.

Meagan Norman serves as an Account Manager for the hotel department.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Health from East Carolina University in 2017. A native resident of Beaufort, she is engaged to Tyler Brewer and loves spending time with family, boating and fishing as well as reading and cooking. Norman is a member of the New Bern Young Professionals.

Catrina Burgess has accepted the position of Commercial Lines Account Manager in the Commercial Lines division.

She joins The Insurance Center after serving as a Branch Coordinator as BB&T. Burgess specializes in Management and Employee Development.

She is a native of Oak Hill, West Virginia where she was graduated from Oak Hill High School. She now resides in New Bern with her husband Brandon and their daughter, Bre and son, Lance. Burgess enjoys photography and crafting.

The Insurance Center is an independent agency celebrating over 80 years of service, offering coverage locally and nationwide. The company has grown to over 40 employees representing some of the best insurance companies in the country. In addition to New Bern, they have a convenient location in Atlantic Beach at 600 Atlantic Beach Causeway.
