Business Wire

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Hartford has appointed Gretchen Thompson head of The Hartford’s Western Division. In this role, Thompson will lead The Hartford’s Middle Market sales and underwriting operations for the company’s independent agents, brokers and their customers in the western part of the United States, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver and Seattle. Thompson will report to Tracey Ant, head of Middle Market field sales and execution.

“Strong, mutually beneficial relationships with our distribution partners are vital to helping us execute our strategy to profitably grow our business and provide tailored insurance solutions for midsize business clients,” said Ant. “Gretchen’s demonstrated ability to deepen distribution relationships and achieve results with agent and broker partners will enhance our position in an evolving and competitive marketplace.”

Thompson, who was named to the Business Insurance Women to Watch list in 2016, has been with The Hartford since 2005 in roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as regional vice president based in California. Prior to joining The Hartford, Thompson held various finance positions at General Electric. Thompson will be based in Southern California. She earned a bachelor's degree from Boston College.
