Jan. 27--AARP Tax-Aide will be providing free tax return preparation and efiling for low to middle income taxpayers of all ages. This service begins Feb. 1 and continues through Apr. 15 at the Richmond branch of the Madison County Public Library, according to a release.
Hours for Tax-Aide will be 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Those interested can call (859) 623-6704 or ask at the library circulation desk to make an appointment, the release stated.
Taxpayers should bring a photo ID, their 2014 tax returns, all 2015 tax-related documents, as well as Social Security cards and 2015 Health Insurance Coverage Information for themselves, their spouse, and for all dependents.
Trained counselors will be on hand to prepare and quality review all returns. While Richmond Tax-Aide volunteers are IRS-Certified and can prepare most types of tax returns, there are certain types that are beyond the scope of Tax-Aide, the release added. They include returns having farm or military income and returns with income from rental property. Also, returns of self-employed individuals with employees, inventory, or business expenses over $25,000 are beyond our training and certification.
The service is sponsored by the AARP Foundation, IRS, and Madison County Public Library.
