The National Association of Realtors said its Pending Home Sales Index, based on signed contracts, jumped 8.1% last month, the biggest increase since June 2020. The housing market has been affected by the Federal Reserve's aggressive monetary policy, which has contracted residential investment for seven consecutive quarters, the longest period since 2009.
