Statement on Congressional Budget Office Scoring of the American Health Care Act
Targeted News Service (Press Releases)
WASHINGTON, March 16 -- The Children's Hospital Association issued the following news release:
ChildrenASs hospitals are alarmed by the American Health Care Act's (AHCA) potential negative impact on children based on the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analysis estimating the Medicaid (https://www.childrenshospitals.org/Issues-and-Advocacy/Medicaid) program would be cut by $880 billion over 10 years. The AHCA leaves children in a far worse position than they were in prior to the Affordable Care Act, and with over 30 million children relying on Medicaid for coverage and benefits we cannot support the bill as currently written.
The AHCA in its current form is a setback to children's health on a national level. A 25 percent cut to Medicaid combined with proposed changes to Medicaid's eligibility standards would prevent children from getting the vital care they need. If just one child loses access to health care, that is one too many.
On behalf of more than 200 children's hospitals and the millions of families they serve, Children's Hospital Association calls on lawmakers to ensure children's funding, coverage and benefits are protected. Our nation depends on todayASs children for tomorrowASs future AX we must invest in them now.
