State slated to raze, rebuild two prisons

Gov. J.B. Pritzker's administration on March 15 revealed a $900 million plan to demolish and rebuild two deteriorating state prisons — Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill and Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln — in a move that officials said would save the state millions of dollars in annual upkeep costs.

GLOCK: The city of Chicago sued Glock Inc. on Tuesday, alleging the handgun manufacturer is facilitating the proliferation of illegal machine guns that can fire as many as 1,200 rounds per minute on the streets of the city.

POWER GRID: State regulators are once again considering massive electric utility spending plans for power grid upgrades that would affect the state's climate goals — and 5.4 million electric customers' monthly bills — after rejecting previous versions late last year.

HEALTH INSURANCE: Gov. J.B. Pritzker's proposal for sweeping reforms in the state's health insurance industry passed out of a committee Thursday and will go to the full House.
