NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) announced in a press release Monday over $7.9 million has been returned this year to Tennessee consumers.
The Consumer Insurance Services team within TDCI mediates complaints between consumers and insurance companies, overturning previously-denied claims and resulting in additional funds being allocated to consumers.
This year is on pace for Tennessee consumers to see just under $13 million returned from insurance companies. Last year saw a record-breaking amount of funds returned to consumers, at $17.5 million.
"I am incredibly proud of our Consumer Insurance Services team who are helping put money back into the pockets of Tennesseans," said TDCI Commissioner Carter Lawrence. "I encourage consumers to file complaints with Team TDCI when they feel they have been the victim of an unfair or deceptive business practice, witnessed unlicensed activity, or seen suspected misconduct or other violations of respective laws or rules."
The press release encouraged consumers to contact the TDCI Consumers Insurance Services team for information or assistance.
