Sportify® ‘Scholarship Insurance’ Launched: How Far has the Scholar Athlete Market Evolved?
This innovative product protects the athletic scholarship offers should a sports-related accident result in a permanent disability or a named illness prevent student athletes from financing their education due to their inability to participate under a college sports scholarship. Sportify® allows an athlete, his/her parents, or a higher education institution to "insure" the sports scholarship offer/award with a high limit lump sum payout.
Sportify® is neither life nor medical insurance. The product seeks to cover the athlete not only, and merely, upon signing a national letter of intent (NLI), but also during the high-risk stage of the scholarship recruitment process; as indicated by the Sportify® insurance eligibility application criteria.
About
Developing Sportify® involved years of feasibility and underwriting consideration. The professional and personal experience of the Sportify®/ Risko Strategies team, coupled with their relationships in the Lloyd's market, was paramount in creating a bespoke solution to address the high stakes nature of sports scholarship competition and recruitment.
